Words from Karen

I cannot remember many of your birthdays, Mom, but a couple of mine stand out. One birthday you asked me what kind of cake I wanted. I wanted a blue cake with green frosting. You made it exactly how I imagined it!! And then, of course, you started my birthday tradition of the watermelon sliced lengthwise and adorned with the appropriate number of sparklers, in lieu of cake and candles. Those were great B-day "cakes", I loved the unconventional even back then! Thank you, Mom, for making my B-days special!
